Found Sound 20:16
Sound Snaps 20:15

Looking back at the history of the cassette, music has dominated its use as a format both for listening to and recording sound. So while in 1981 the British Phonographic Industry claimed that 'Home Taping is Killing Music', in fact the opposite is true: music killed home recording.

This tape features a collection of found sound home recordings plus 'sound snaps' created from home recordings.

Music is Killing Home Taping is released on the Start Here audio cassette tape label, which aims to bring discerning listeners the finest in magnetic tape based media archaeological art. The files available for digital download are taken directly from cassette copies, and include the sound of the cassette's leader tape at the beginning and end of each side.
